Designing for Business Evolution
To evolve businesses, leverage technology and exceed customer expectations organisations need more than a leap of faith. They need to design for it. Barry O'Reilly, an entrepreneur, business advisor and author, will share how he is using design thinking, lean and agile practices and principles to help organisations design their future business for continuous evolution by becoming experimental by design.
Classically designers use methods like customer journey mapping and product screen flows to solve complex challenges or problems but all the principles and methods are just as relevant when designing processes, discovering how to align teams of people and create performance managements systems. The problem is that the majority of 'designers' are taught in a product context and fail to realise that they can actually have very valuable input, insights and skills to apply these methodologies when designing the systems of work that run and operating the entire organisation.
In the talk Barry will showcase through case studies from organisations he is working with that realise the value of design and designers. They understand that design isn't just about user interfaces and pixels—it influences everything. Barry will share concrete tools and tactics that drive culture change, business performance and challenge designers to rethink the role they can play in creating high performance organisations.
